AN/ARM 184 Test Set
Navigational Set, TACAN
(Out of Production-Repair Only)

The AN/ARM-184 Test Set is a versatile flight line test set capable of testing the key performance characteristics of a variety of airborne TACAN Interrogators. It is capable of use at both the organizational and intermediate level. This test set operates by simulating either a TACAN ground beacon, or an airborne TACAN interrogator operating in one of the various air-to-air modes.
  • Automatic RF output leveling circuit - no adjustments required
  • Accurately timed half-amplitude detection over a wide range of input levels (70 dB)
  • Automatic slideback RF power measurement
  • RF output directly generated by frequency synthesizer - no multipliers/no tuning adjustments
  • Operation over wide environmental limits per MIL-T-21200 Class 2

AN/ASM 663 Tester
(Out of Production-Repair Only)
The AN/ASM-663 is a small, lightweight, hand-held test set, designed to be used as a "no/no go" tester on the flight line. The AN/ASM-663 is a versatile test set which allows testing of the key performance
characteristics of airborne TACAN and DME Interrogators. This test set can simulate a TACAN ground beacon, an airborne TACAN Interrogator in the air-to-air ranging mode, or an airborne TACAN Interrogator in the air-to-bearing mode. Additionally, the AN/ASM-663 can be modified to include a modulation off feature to allow for air-to-air inverse mode testing.

  • Automatic RF output leveling circuit
  • Lightweight: 11 lbs (includes case)
  • 2,000 hours MTBF
  • Operates on 6 channels
  • Digitally generated range and bearing
  • Slideback RF power measurement

AN/ASM 504
Sonobuoy Simulator

The AN/ASM-504 Sonobuoy Simulator, a portable version of the SF-1156/A Acoustic Test Signal Generator utilized on the U.S. Navy's P-3C Update III aircraft, provides for flight line checkout and maintenance of airborne sonobuoy acoustic systems from antenna through processor. Performance evaluation can be made on each portion of the acoustic system without the necessity of equipment removal. 99 RF channel capability, FSK modulation, and provision for use with a UHF receiver/command decoder for command active buoy simulation, make the AN/ASM-504 Sonobuoy Simulator ideal for use with the newest generation of aircraft sonobuoy acoustic systems. The AN/ASM-504 is provided in a Mil-Spec combination case. Included in the casecover is a VHF antenna, associated cables and connectors, and simplified operating instructions. The AN/ASM-504 may be utilizedby direct connection to the aircraft, or by radiating through theincluded antenna.
  • Fast RF Channelization to any of 99 RF channels
  • Line-of-Sight operating ranges up to ten miles
  • Continuously adjustable RF output level
  • Front panel meters for RF and modulation level
  • Build-In generation of DIFAR, LOFAR, Range and B/T sonobuoy patterns
  • Target Signal-to-Noise ratio enhancement for degraded performance checks
  • External inputs for analog and FSK modulation
